Senior Engineer (Traffic Signal Improvements)

G10: £34,106 - £38,052

Closing Date: 02/09/2018

This is a superb opportunity to lead, motivate and inspire our engineering team working on traffic signal improvement projects. Lincolnshire County Council is one of the largest local highway authority areas in England providing award winning innovative highway services.

Having made significant investments in its traffic signals in recent years, Lincolnshire County Council operates state of the art intelligent transport systems and has a multi-million pound forward programme of exciting highway improvement projects.

Working in a key role for the County Council's Technical Services Partnership (TSP), you will provide strong leadership in delivering new and improved traffic signals for major highway improvement schemes, strategic asset management projects and network management services.

TSP is a performance driven team that combines private sector thinking with a public service ethos. TSP thrives on challenge and excels in creating progressive solutions to complex road design issues.

You will be a member of a relevant professional body with a good understanding and experience in traffic signal design, scheme supervision and commissioning new traffic signal installations. We would welcome someone with fresh ideas and who can work in collaboration with others to deliver projects and services.

At this level, we need a positive and enthusiastic team player, who will meet or exceed performance and productivity expectations. Working closely with the Principal Engineer, you will provide strategic and day to day leadership of the traffic signal design team. You will be responsible for delivery of your own schemes with an overview of others.

You will be expected to take good decisions based on cost, technical requirements and political pressures. You must have excellent communication skills and lead by example, demonstrating effective behaviours in the way you work with colleagues and clients.

To get around the County you will need a full driver's licence so you can use our pool cars.

We will provide you with access to the fantastic Local Government Pension Scheme, a great holiday allowance, payment of professional subscriptions, CPD opportunities and a whole range of other employee benefits. Successful candidates may even be eligible for relocation expenses up to 25% of salary.
