Here at Devon County Council, a top tier 3 authority and the largest council in the South West of England, we’re busy managing the longest road network in the country, maintaining its highway infrastructure and bringing incredible network projects to life to support economic growth and enhance our community and landscape.

We’re seeking an Asset Intelligence Senior Officer to be responsible for managing a team of technicians in the Highway Data Systems Team. This technical team provide necessary map based data networks that are used as a platform for all highway utilities to notify works.

The network databases hold information necessary to programme, record and analyse road condition surveys and it will also be your responsibility to ensure the consistent and accurate capture of this highway data that will be used to inform the needs and service levels across the network.
You will be at the heart of the action by providing condition data to other stakeholders and undertaking financial scenario planning on the impact of different service levels in respect of the authority’s statutory, corporate and service policies.

You will ensure a consistent approach in the maintenance and review of the network hierarchy and lead in the collection and updating the inventory features that provide data for the identification of future works and highway valuations. Leading on asset intelligence within the Data Systems Team you will develop and support the use of new technology associated with office systems and Highway Maintenance and Management Systems ensuring the full potential of new systems is exploited.

Ideally, although not essential, your background will include in-depth, hands-on experience of working within a highways environment but managing people and the ability to lead and inspire a team and delivering projects on time is essential.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
