We're recruiting to a number of Senior Professional Engineer roles across the following teams:

  • Strategy and Commissioning
  • Design and Delivery
  • Development Control - please note this role is based in Sutton

Finding the right people is critical to our future success. For these senior roles you'll need to prove you have the relevant technical, contractual and legislative knowledge, as well as a proven record of delivery in a local authority environment.

As you'll be responsible for managing Engineers, you must also be able to support and empower staff whilst being effective in commissioning and performance management, and being a role model in taking an innovative and commercial outlook. These roles also involve communicating effectively with colleagues, the public and members, as well as our partners. In particular you will be expected to have good political management skills as regular attendance at committee meetings is a key part of the job, and you will also need to be able to effectively manage significant budgets.

For all roles your work with us will help ensure our highways and transport infrastructure is safe, fit for purpose, sustainable, cost effective and well connected. So, you’ll need to have good communication skills with the ability to put your ideas across clearly to colleagues and customers - both in person and in writing, and you’ll need to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively in order to work on​ a number of projects simultaneously from inception to completion.
