South Tyneside Council is looking for an outstanding leader to join our ambitious and high performing team. Our recent Corporate Peer Review recognised that we are a high performing, fleet of foot, innovative organisation, leading the way for the sector with a regeneration programme loaded with world-class projects, including the ‘IAMP’ - International Advanced Manufacturing Park - a project of major national significance, South Shields 365 and Holborn Riverside.

This is a high-profile role leading a strong, highly capable, experienced team of senior leaders who have a proven track record in economic growth and regeneration. You will be a ‘place-shaper’ first and foremost, leading new opportunities for both people and place. You will also play a key role in creating and maximising opportunities for inward investment.

You will continue to add to our long list of regeneration schemes and developments that already include innovative housing vehicles, state of the art schools and award winning infrastructure and leisure facilities, including Littlehaven Promenade, Haven Point, Hebburn Central and ‘The Word’ the National Centre for the Written Word. Our ambitious 20 year strategy, ‘Hello Tomorrow, Change is Happening’ articulates our vision for sustainable outcomes through investment in iconic community assets.

You will have a strong regeneration track record and proven ability to work with private sector partners and developers to negotiate and deliver quality commercial schemes. You will match commercial acumen with public sector values, representing the Council on a regional, national and international platform, developing our new economic future which will further establish South Tyneside as an outstanding place to live, investm and bring up families.

This is a career defining opportunity for a resilient, dynamic leader to join a high performing Council with inspirational political and managerial leadership, who will contribute to ensuring the delivery of our economic and social priorities for our residents.
