We are looking to recruit a Service Manager - Waste and Transport who will play a key role within the Councils team of service managers. This is a fantastic post to lead, manage and develop our Waste and Transport service. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Waste and Transport operation with a clear focus on protecting the special and unique nature of the New Forest.  With a Fleet of over 220 vehicles, weekly refuse and recycling collections to over 80,000 residential properties and 1,000 businesses delivered by over 100 direct employees this post could provide the challenge that you have been looking for.

The successful candidate will have the skills and drive to lead and develop the service with the ability to rise to the challenges that are currently being faced in Local Government. You will ideally have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing a diverse manual workforce with exceptional people and performance management skills
  • An innovative approach to problem solving in both an operational and strategic capacity
  • Be highly motivated with confidence and expertise in managing a £4.5m annual budget
  • Commitment to health and safety is essential, with working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work act.
