The Highways Maintenance team is responsible for the delivery of all routine maintenance on the Highway including drainage works and major projects ranging from minor improvements to large infrastructure implementation. The Council have secured substantial funding grants to deliver major improvements over the next five years and the Maintenance team will be part of that delivery.

You will be an operations manager with an impressive background in end-to-end delivery of civil engineering works, you’ll have confidence in taking the lead and will understand the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders including Council Members, residents and local interest groups to the Department for Transport. A background in Health & Safety, risk assessments and method statements and a proven record of managing large complex budgets. More than that, you’ll be a strong communicator and motivational leader and someone who brings out the best in the people around them.
You will be of degree level or equivalent calibre and ideally with a civil engineering or transportation background. You must be equipped to manage complex projects, budgets and multi-disciplinary project teams.
Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
